Build Details
The core of today's build revolves around the Prismatic subclass, enhanced by an exotic class item that grants us the Spirit of Necrotic and Spirit of the Claw. If you haven’t had any luck getting this combination, don’t worry — Claws of Ahamkara or Necrotic Grips can serve as great substitutes.
Not a fan of Prismatic? No problem. You can switch to the Solar subclass and still get excellent results with either of the exotic items.
I recently returned to this build thanks to the new Stasis Glaive introduced in Revenant. The Rake Angle, a legendary kinetic glaive, comes with fantastic perks like Chill Clip and Rimestealer, making it an excellent choice for adding freeze and slow effects into the mix.
While the Rake Angle is a standout, it’s not the only glaive that shines here. Edge of Intent is another great option, as it generates a healing turret when fully charged, adding some sustainability to your toolkit.
Now, let’s talk about the exotic benefits and how they shape this build.
Exotic Synergies: Spirit of Necrotic: This exotic applies poison when you hit enemies with a powered or unpowered melee attack. Think of it as "free damage" — once an enemy is poisoned, it spreads to nearby targets. Spirit of the Claw: This grants us an additional melee charge, which means more opportunities to spread poison and deal damage. When combined with a glaive, like the Rake Angle, you can quickly spread poison across enemies with each melee attack. Aspects & Abilities: We’re running the Feed the Void aspect, which grants the Devour buff. This is essential for our survivability, as it provides reliable health regeneration and bonus grenade energy. While Devour is active, every final blow restores full health and gives up to 20% bonus grenade energy.
For general gameplay, swapping in Lightning Surge and using Arcane Needles can give us up to four surges, but for endgame content, I recommend sticking with Hellion Buddy instead, as it provides better synergy with Scorch and Ignition effects, especially when paired with Incinerator Snap.
Glaives and Crowd Control: In addition to Rake Angle, we’ve got plenty of crowd control options. The Edge of Intent glaive can generate a healing turret when charged, giving us extra protection in tougher fights.
With this build, we can dish out huge damage while keeping ourselves and our teammates safe and protected.
Super Choice: For our super, Song of Flame is hands down the best option. It provides a 90% damage resistance bonus, which massively boosts survivability in tough content. With Spirit of Necrotic and Claw amplifying Song of Flame, we can melt down bosses and handle high-level encounters with ease.
Grenades & Fragments: We’re going with Cold Snap Grenades for freezing enemies, and in terms of Prismatic Fragments, we’re stacking the following:
Facet of Dawn: Activates Radiance whenever we land a powered melee, increasing our weapon damage by 25% and allowing us to pierce Barrier Champion shields. Facet of Ruin: Increases damage to frozen enemies and expands the radius of ignitions and shattering effects, which works beautifully with the Rake Angle and Cold Snap grenades. Facet of Courage: Provides a 10% damage boost against enemies affected by a Darkness debuff. With Radiance and Facet of Courage, this adds up to a solid 37% total damage increase. Facet of Balance: Improves the regeneration of both melee and grenade energy based on the type of energy we defeat enemies with. We’re also running Facet of Protection for added damage resistance when surrounded by enemies. This pairs well with Transcendence to give us a solid 32% damage resistance when activated, keeping us alive in the heat of battle.
Artifact Mods & Loadout: For our artifact, we’re using Hail the Storm to boost the damage of shattering frozen enemies, and Conductive Cosmic Crystal to increase the damage of Void and Arc abilities against slowed or frozen targets — perfect if you're using Lightning Surge.
For Kinetic Impact, we’re leaning on heavy grenade launchers like Hullabaloo or VS Chill Inhibitor to apply stuns and debuffs to champions, helping us clear out enemies faster. If you’re not using a glaive, a breach-loading grenade launcher like the Liturgy or Lingering Dread is a great substitute, especially with Chill Clip to add freezing effects.
Weapon Loadout: Our primary weapon choice will depend on activity modifiers, but we recommend using weapons with Heal Clip, Rime Stealer, or Repulsor Brace for improved survivability.
Armor and Stats: For endgame content, your priority should be maxing out your Resilience to Tier 10, reducing incoming damage by 30%. Since this build revolves heavily around melee abilities, Strength is also crucial to minimize cooldowns for abilities like Incinerator Snap and Lightning Surge.
We’re using the following armor mods:
Melee Kickstart and Invigoration to provide extra melee energy. Heavy Handed on gloves to ensure reliable melee energy regeneration. Harmonic Siphon to generate orbs for energy regeneration. Hands-On on the helmet to gain bonus super energy from powered melee kills. With these mods and stats, your Transcendence super will be up faster than ever, allowing you to spam Incinerator Snap and Combo Grenades to your heart's content.
Step 1: Activate Phoenix Dive for Hellion Buddy. Step 2: Throw Coldsnap to Freeze Enemies. Step 3: Use Melee to Scorch/Ignite Enemies and trigger Radiance. Step 4: Use Melee as available. Step 4: Use Phoenix Dive when low on Health. Step 5: Use Glaive Shield to block damage. Step 6: Cast Transcendence when available. Step 7: Use Song of Flame on High Value Targets.
