Today, we’re diving into Destiny 2’s latest exotic weapon: The Barrow-Dyad, a brand-new Strand submachine gun with some incredible and unique mechanics. This SMG charges up and releases deadly Tracer Blights, which behave similarly to Nanotracer Rockets, homing in on multiple enemies to deal massive area damage.
Now, is the Barrow-Dyad a better option than top-tier Strand exotics like the Quicksilver Storm, Final Warning, or Wish-Keeper? Well, not exactly—but it certainly brings its own advantages, especially when paired with the right build. And remember, we haven't even seen this weapon’s full potential—its true form will unlock in Act 2 of Heresy.
In today’s video, we’ll break down an optimized Titan loadout built around the Barrow-Dyad—focusing on maximum synergy and damage output. Let’s get into it!
🟢 Barrow-Dyad Overview & Mechanics The Barrow-Dyad is a 720 RPM Aggressive Frame Strand SMG designed for ad-clear efficiency. Its core mechanic revolves around building Blight Charges by landing shots. Once fully charged, reloading releases these charges as Blight Seekers—powerful homing projectiles that replace standard bullets temporarily. Here’s how it works:
Blight Seekers Damage: Each seeker deals 160 base damage and counts as Strand Energy. Seeker Chain Effect: After hitting a target, each seeker can chain to up to two additional enemies. If no additional targets are nearby, they return to the original target for extra damage. Maximum Payload: A fully charged magazine launches six Blight Seekers, capable of wiping entire enemy groups in one burst. Hip-Fire vs. ADS:
Hip-Fire: Blight Seekers fire at 450 RPM—slower, but more controlled. ADS (Aiming Down Sights): Blight Seekers fire at 720 RPM, hitting targets faster without a damage difference. 🟡 Catalyst and Future Upgrades As we progress through Heresy, the Barrow-Dyad will receive optional upgrades, including powerful Catalyst Refits. Potential perk options include:
One for All: Boosts damage after hitting three separate targets. High-Impact Reserves: Increases damage as the magazine empties. Target Lock: Increases damage the longer you stay on target. Hatchling: Creates Threadlings on precision kills—perfect for Strand synergy. Among these, Hatchling stands out due to its natural synergy with Strand builds. However, One for All could be a sleeper powerhouse, compensating for the weapon’s relatively low direct DPS with a reliable, multi-target damage boost.
🔴 The Secret Full-Auto Glitch—Unlimited Ammo Loop The Barrow-Dyad also has an intriguing hidden mechanic—possibly a glitch or a secret perk. Here’s how it works:
The weapon auto-reloads when not firing, clearing Blight Charge stacks. By disabling full-auto in your settings, you can create an infinite firing loop: The gun locks at one round in the magazine and continues firing without reloading. Fire rate drops to 240 RPM, but recoil reduces significantly. Blight Charges accumulate fully before you reload, letting you precisely time your Blight Seeker volleys on high-value targets like Champions and Bosses. 🟠 Best Titan Build for Barrow-Dyad: Peacekeepers SMG Synergy To maximize the Barrow-Dyad’s potential, we’re centering the build on the Peacekeepers, the SMG-centric Titan Exotic. Here’s why Peacekeepers shine with this weapon:
🟡 Peacekeeper Exotic Perks: 📈 +40 Airborne Effectiveness for all SMGs. 🏃 +25 Mobility and increased sprint speed and slide distance. 💥 +50 Weapon Handling and a 33% ADS movement penalty reduction. 📊 Stacking weapon damage bonus (similar to Target Lock): Each hit increases damage by 5%, stacking up to 20 times (100% damage increase). With a base magazine of 35 rounds on the Barrow-Dyad, hitting shot #23 triggers the full 100% bonus. 🟠 The Infinite-Fire Trick with Peacekeepers: The Barrow-Dyad’s full-auto glitch pairs perfectly with Peacekeepers, allowing you to:
Maintain continuous fire and maximum damage bonus without reloading. Time your Blight Seeker bursts to hit priority targets while fully buffed. Combine Peacekeeper’s mobility bonuses with fast SMG gameplay, making you a speedy tank. 💠 Alternative Titan Exotic Options: 🟣 Eternal Warrior: Provides a massive weapon damage buff post-Super—strong, but situational. 🟢 Precious Scars: Grants healing on kills—solid for survivability but less DPS-focused. In this build, Peacekeepers outshine the others by delivering a consistent, stackable damage boost without relying on Supers or specific kill conditions. Plus, this build stacks even higher with Radiance, Weapon Surge mods, and other bonuses.
🌟 Prismatic Titan Setup for Barrow-Dyad Synergy We’re using the Prismatic Subclass to maximize synergy between Strand debuffs and Arc abilities. Here’s the loadout:
🟡 Aspects: 💚 Drengr’s Lash (Strand): Suspends enemies with Barricade, setting up easy kills for Blight Seekers. ⚡ Knockout (Arc): Provides health regeneration on melee kills and buffs melee damage. 🟢 Abilities: 💥 Grenade: Shackle Grenades for reliable Suspensions. ✊ Melee: Thunderclap for burst damage and Radiance activation. 🟠 Key Fragments: ☀️ Facet of Dawn: Thunderclap kills grant Radiance (+20% weapon damage for 5 seconds). ⚔️ Facet of Courage: Light abilities deal +10% more damage to Strand-debuffed enemies. 🕷️ Facet of Isolation: Precision hits Sever enemies—reducing their damage output by 40%. 🛡️ Facet of Protection: Grants 15% damage resistance when surrounded, increasing to 32% during Transcendence. 🟣 Situational Fragment Swaps: With Bladefury or Twilight Arsenal Supers: Use Facet of Purpose for Woven Mail or Overshields from Orbs. With Thundercrash: Swap to Facet of Balance or Awakening for better Arc synergy. 💥 Playstyle & Combat Strategy: Start fights with Shackle Grenades or Drengr’s Lash to suspend enemies. Use Thunderclap to activate Radiance for a 20% weapon damage boost. Fire continuously with the Barrow-Dyad, leveraging the infinite ammo trick to build up 100% damage bonuses from Peacekeepers. Unload Blight Seekers into Champions or Bosses, melting them with stacked damage multipliers. 🚀 Final Thoughts: The Barrow-Dyad may not dethrone heavyweights like Quicksilver Storm or Final Warning, but it brings insane ad-clear potential and some unique synergy with Titans—especially when paired with Peacekeepers and Prismatic builds. Plus, with its future Catalyst options and hidden mechanics, this SMG is shaping up to be a must-have for creative loadouts and endgame builds.
