How Spirit Power Works and Scales in Deadlock
How Spirit Power Works
This article is adapted from Prohibit's Youtube video, Spirit Power - Everything they aren't telling you about Spirit Power.
Have you ever wondered why Haze seems to have unlimited ammo despite not buying any ammo items? Or why Grey Talon seems to be booking it across the map at Mach 10? Well, the answer is Spirit Power. It's actually a stat that's a lot crazier than it looks on the surface.
Getting more Spirit Power increases the effectiveness of most characters' abilities and some items. When hovering over an ability, you can see whether or not a number scales with Spirit Power by a star being next to it. If you hold down Alt while hovering over an ability, you can see the actual ratio that Spirit Power has with that ability. The higher the number, the more effective Spirit Power is for that ability.
Some characters have pretty low ratios making Spirit Power not as effective on them, but some characters have crazy high ratios, making Spirit Power very effective. Certain items also scale with Spirit Power, like Cold Front or Mystic Shot. The more Spirit Power you have, the more damage that their ability actually does. Other abilities deal Spirit Damage, but they don't actually scale with Spirit Power. This is stuff like Toxic Bullets, for example.
Deadlock Heroes With Spirit Power Scalings
A lesser known thing is that certain characters' base stats also scale with Spirit Power.
Most characters have base stats that remain pretty stagnant and only increase when you level up, like weapon damage and melee damage, but some characters are unique. Their base stats actually scale with Spirit Power.
Haze = increased ammo size
Grey Talon = increased fire rate and move speed
Seven = = increased move speed
Warden = increases fire rate
Wraith = increased sprint speed
Yamato = increased ammo size
So Spirit Power is pretty unique, and if you're not paying attention, you might miss out on some of the benefits that your character actually gains with Spirit Power compared to other stats. But there are also some drawbacks.
Certain characters actually have negative consequences. consequences from purchasing a high amount of Spirit Power. Lady Geist gains a lot of damage on her abilities like Essence Bomb from buying Spirit Power, but also the self-damaging portion of her abilities scale up with Spirit Power as well at nearly double the rate.
If you end up rushing too much Spirit Power early on as a Lady Geist, you'll find yourself dying very quickly to your self -damage, but for abilities, Spirit Power doesn't just have an effect on damage. It can also affect a bunch of unique things like healing or duration.
Overall, keep an eye out to understand what unique things Spirit Power does for your hero.
