In Deadlock, you start the game with 9 item slots, which you can fill up as the game progresses. You also have an additional flex slot already unlocked, meaning you can buy 10 items, and as the game develops, you’ll be upgrading some items. In the early game, you’ll be purchasing cheap items as that is all you can afford, and then upgrading many of them as the game goes on and as you earn more souls.

However, by completing certain quests and obtaining certain objectives throughout the match, you can unlock additional flex slots.
You can unlock each of the 3 extra flex slots by completing these objectives:
- Destroy 1 enemy Walker
- Destroy 2 enemy Walkers
- Destroy 3 enemy Walkers
The walkers are the second line of defence in Deadlock. They’re the 2nd objective, after killing the Guardians in the lane, and they look like this.

Depending on the game state, you will naturally unlock all of the additional slots as the game develops. I wouldn’t worry too much about trying to complete them quickly, as they’re unlocked as the game plays out. However, the best way of destroying the Walkers is by pushing strategically with your teammates and not just pushing for the sake of it, as you’ll most likely die.
