Wild Rift Guide: How to Play Lux
Lux is one of the most popular champions in League of Legends. She is a poster child for the game and is a dominant champion in both the Mid and Support roles. In Wild Rift, she is favoured more in the Support role rather than the Mid-lane, but she is still strong in both games and in both roles.
If you like Lux in League of Legends, you might like her in Wild Rift, as she has a similar play style, and her abilities are pretty much the same in both games, unlike some champions in Wild Rift.
Before we begin, this guide is not intended to be in-depth but instead, give you the building blocks to help you get to know how to play Lux in Wild Rift. If you’re interested in learning how to play other champions, why not head over to the Mobalytics Blog for more Wild Rift content?!
How to Play Lux in Wild Rift
Lux Wild Rift Abilities
Here’s a basic breakdown of all of Lux abilities in Wild Rift. Before we get into it, we want to clarify that all the descriptions of her abilities and the videos were sourced from the Official Lux Wild Rift page.
Passive: Illumination Lux’s damaging spells charge the target with energy for 5 seconds. Lux’s next attack ignites the energy, dealing bonus magic damage (depending on Lux’s level) to the target.
Ability 1: Light Binding Lux releases a sphere of light that binds and deals damage to up to two enemy units.
Ability 2: Prismatic Barrier Lux throws her wand and bends the light around any friendly target it touches, protecting them from enemy damage.
Ability 3: Lucent Singularity Fires an anomaly of twisted light to an area, which slows nearby enemies. Lux can detonate it to damage enemies in the area of effect.
Ultimate Ability: Final Spark After gathering energy, Lux fires a beam of light that deals damage to all targets in the area. In addition, it triggers Lux’s passive ability and refreshes the Illumination debuff duration.
Lux Wild Rift Runes
Before the game even starts, it is very important to choose the right runes, so the champion can accelerate as much as possible and unleash her full potential.
Lux Skill Order
Here’s the skill order for Lux. Note that this will be her Support skill order and may change if she gets played in the mid-lane instead.
Lux Wild Rift Build
This is one of the best builds for Lux in Wild Rift. Please note this build, including the Runes, may change from patch to patch.
Lux Wild Rift Counters
Unfortunately, there are some hard counters to Lux. In these sorts of matchups, you’ll need to adjust your playstyle so you do not get caught out and through your lead.
Leona can be a good pick into Lux due to her easy-to-land CC and the fact that Lux is really squishy. You can abuse her over and over again and look for all-ins when she walks forward. Pair Leona with an ADC that can follow up, and she’s going to die instantly.
Fizz is one of the best counters to Lux as he has tools to escape her CC and her Ultimate. He also has very strong all-in with his Ultimate skill, so he can just try to kill her repeatedly when she mispositions or uses her Q.
Strong all-in champions are good versus Lux, and that includes Katarina. Lux doesn’t really have much to protect herself from Katarina, as Lux’s Q is a root and not a hard CC tool, so Katarina’s spell 4 will channel for the full amount.
Best Matchups for Lux in Wild Rift
Okay, so we’ve discussed 3 champions who you don’t want to pick Lux into, now let’s list 3 champions you can play Lux into!
One champion you can always pick Lux into is Janna. Janna is a squishy, mobile Support that lacks damage. Lux has the superior range, more damage and is overall a lot stronger than Janna. Don’t ever be afraid to pick her into Janna.
Alistar is a melee tank and Lux is ranged. You can counter the Alistar and win this matchup if you watch your positioning. The main thing you need to do is abuse your range advantage and always watch your positioning.
We’re throwing in Annie here as Annie in the Mid lane is not too good vs Lux as her play style is somewhat scripted, and Lux can capitalise on this. Lux also out ranges the Annie, which makes it difficult for Annie to actually get picks and start fights.
Lux is one of the most popular champions in League of Legends, and she is also a popular champion in both the mid and Support roles of Wild Rift. What did you think of this article? We hope it will help you understand the basics of Lux in Wild Rift.
