Methodology TLDR:

• Our first tier list aimed at lower ELO, specifically Bronze up to high Plat/low Diamond. Our second tier list is for high ELO, aimed at Diamond 2 and above.
• Our experts curate these picks and are an indicator of the champion’s inherent strength when played at the highest level. For many of the user base, this information isn’t super relevant for their games but provides invaluable insight into the game itself.

Let’s say you’re debating between learning and climbing with Jax (A-tier | Simple) or Rengar (A-tier | Severe) – you’re going to want to go with Jax. Why? This is because Jax has a lower skill floor and would require less games to play at an A-Tier level in Solo Queue. If you tried to pick up Rengar, you wouldn’t get the full value of A-tier until after about 15 matches of practice whereas with Jax, you would get that full 15 every time you play him.

Top – Sett

• Sett is a ton of fun to play and he’s really easy to get the hang of. He has the ability to carry really hard by stomping lanes, outplaying his enemines against the odds, and even engaging for his teammates.
• So if you haven’t tried him recently, give him a go!

Jungle – Jarvan IV

• Jarvan is perfect for any player looking to climb this patch. He’s got strong early ganks, great skirmishing power, fantastic engage and can easily carry in any game or draft.

Mid – Twisted Fate

• Twisted Fate is BACK this patch with his buffs and now he’s up in the S tier at every single rank!
• TF’s ability to reliably lock down targets with his gold cards is one thing, but it’s his ability to impact games early on with his Ultimate that really makes the difference.

Bottom – Tristana

• Tristana is a fantastic pick right now and can easily win lanes with her early aggressively gameplay and solid 2v2 power.
• She can snowball extremely quickly and can feel impossible to beat, as if your enemies don’t have flash, just jump on their head and take them down!

Support – Sona

• Sona’s stats this patch are surprisingly high and with her sustain and scaling power she’s the perfect support to play into any team composition. So if you like that real chill supportive utility based plastyle, give Sona a try!

Top – Jax

• Jax has been popular in high elo for as long as this game has existed, with his ability to duel, side lane, and scale into a splitpushing menace. His buffs this patch have finally see him shine through again, making that little bit of difference that was enough to push him back up into the S tier!

Jungle – Lee Sin

• Lee Sin is one of those junglers that can genuinely carry any game, if the player behind him truly knows how to use him optimally.
• His creative kit allows for endless ways to outplay your enemies, and with his place in the meta being so strong right now, it’s the best time to main him!

Mid – Zoe

• Zoe has always been a super scary pick at higher ranks, and the top one trick pony Zoe players are some of the most terrifying to come up against.
• Her kit allows her to be insanely skill expressive and as the meta has become more burst heavy recently, this is the time for her to shine.

Bottom – Zeri

• Zeri’s buffs have seen her bounce back into the meta again, and now she’s one of the strongest AD Carries you can go for!
• She can be a serious problem when she get’s ahead, and with the right support beside her, can feel impossible to deal with!

Support – Bard

• Bard is just one of the most creative support picks in the game and his playmaking capabilities are crazy high if you know how to use them!
• Bard’s kit is designed to roam around the map, impact lanes, sway fights into his favor, and just generally carry from the support role, even if you don’t spend too much time in the bot lane!

Disclaimer #1: If a champion isn’t on our LoL Tier List, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you can’t climb with them. You’ll just have to put in more effort to get similar results as our Optimal, Great, and Good choices for climbing.
Disclaimer #2: This list is meant to evaluate the champions that we believe are best for climbing Solo Queue. Although there can certainly be some overlap, we are NOT looking to name the champions that are the best in pro-play or organized, competitive 5-on-5. This is why champs that require a ton of team coordination such as Ryze, may not be included or ranked highly.
